Gauge of bridges, locks and engineering structures

Welcome to the Yonne and the Canal du Nivernais!

Between April and October, the 174-kilometre canal is navigable through 116 locks.

If you’re coming with your own boat, here are a few technical details:

Air draught: 240m

Freycinet gauge (38.50m x 5.05m), except between Sardy and Cercy-la-Tour which is Becquey gauge (30m x 5.05m)

Swimming is prohibited in the Yonne, except in equipped and signposted areas.
